FQWORSHIP.COM Is Now Accepting Instructional Videos

It doesn’t take a genius to know that you can find anything, and learn to do just about everything on YouTube – including drum covers or tutorials of your favourite worship songs. Some of you may even have your own popular youtube channel (ever heard of of young man named Cobus?)!

If recording instructional videos is your thing, then you’ll want to check out this announcement from FQWORSHIP.COM since they are now accepting videos:

Thousands of gifted instrumentalists help to lead worship in churches around the world each and every week.

We want to give these instrumentalists an opportunity to share their gifts with others by submitting an instructional video. Videos submitted will be considered for FQ VIDEO and/or the FQ You Tube Channel.

If you are interested in submitting an instructional video, we would love to hear from you.

Instructional Video Content
1) how to play a worship song on an instrument
(choose a popular Christian worship song that is not in our video library)
(break it down and demonstrate how to play the song on an instrument)
2) gear and settings (amps, pedals, how to get a specific sound, etc.)

Instruments
acoustic guitar
keyboard or piano
hammond organ
drums
auxillary percussion
bass guitar
electric guitar

For more information, please email us at: [email protected]
Subject: VIDEO

We will contact you with more information once we receive your email.
(Do not send a video file at this time.)

So there you have it! Do you have your own YouTube channel? Post a link to it in the comment below and I’ll check them out.

Now hurry up and submit your tutorial videos!

Mike Webber: An Interview with the Planetshakers Drummer – Part 1

I recently caught up with Mike Webber, the phenomenal drummer for Planetshakers, and had the opportunity to ask him some questions about drums, drummers and worshipdrumming. The conversation was so animated that we ended up with 45 mins of video, chalk full of great advice for worshipdrummers.

We will be breaking up the interview into 3 shorter videos so you will have an easier time digesting them.

In many respects, Mike’s drumming has influenced my playing and has always encouraged me to play from a passionate place. I know you will enjoy these videos!

So without further ado, here’s video number one.

// Part 1: Origins and Influences

[If you want to hear Ps Russell say "Michael, give some devil some pain on that drums" click here and listen from 2:00]

What are your impressions? Have you heard of Mike before? Let’s chat it up in the comments below.

Stay tuned for part two!

Editor’s note: Audio and video quality are not the best as it was recorded through Skype. The audio was out of sync and we are trying to find a better solution for future interviews. Thanks for understanding. Most of all, I pray that the content is highly valuable to you.

It’s Monday and Here’s a Little BIG Announcement To Brighten Your Day!

Mondays can be very boring. For many of us we are back to work, tired from a weekend of ministry or just plain tired of weird weather (It’s supposed to snow today in Toronto!).

So here’s some great news to brighten up your Monday:

Priscilla and I are expecting our first child!

There are so many things I want to write but I don’t want to blow up this blog into a parenting blog (I’d never do that to you :) )

What I will tell you is that I want to take a picture like this when our baby is born! Happy Monday!

[Thanks to all who have already left comments on Facebook and twitter. I feel so blessed to do life with you, our awesome community of worshipdrummers!]

Deluge Releases New Album With A “Swell” Drum Tutorial

I’m a huge fan of Jonathan Stockstill. Not only do we have the same name (meaningless), but he’s an incredible worship leader, musician, and songwriter. His songs are unique and have really ministered to me through the years and Swell, the new release from his band Deluge, has not disappointed.

Swell - Deluge
Deluge Swell Cover

Here’s what I love about what Jon Stockstill and Deluge are doing:

  • Songs are not predictable
  • Sounds like nothing you’ve heard before.
  • Many songs are modern hymns
  • You actually hear the piano. (I find that so refreshing nowadays!)
  • Songs have deep and rich lyrics with singable melodies.
  • These are songs for the church
  • The band is as tight as ever
  • AWESOME DRUMMER in Andrae Harrison!

Check out these videos relating to Deluge’s new record “Swell” and pick up your copy here.

Happy Easter!

I know that we are all really busy this weekend but I just wanted to wish you all a happy and blessed Easter and share this scripture and video with you! John 18:37

“Pilate therefore said to Him, Are You a king then? Jesus answered, You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” – John 18:37

Thank You Jesus for the cross!

The Drumset and the Kingdom. A Dream Come True For WorshipDrummers.

Every so often I dream about a day when worshipdrummer.ca will grow beyond being just a blog. After all, as worshipdrummers we are real people. I have seriously longed for a day when we could gather an army of worshipdrummers under one roof and spend some meaningful time together learning, growing, and connecting with one another. Putting on such an event is far too big a feat for our humble blog but I’m incredibly grateful for what the guys over at Risen Drums are doing in this regard.
